We believe that everyone is entitled to accessing education and training to give them the opportunity to getting a job, some people however face barriers that prevent them from doing that, this is where we can help. If your rent account is up to date, you may be able to access our education, training and back to work grants.
These grants offer you and your children the opportunity to access education and training courses or help to remove any obstacles that may be preventing you getting a job.
The grants are very flexible and can be awarded for the following:
• IT equipment
• Books for courses
• Equipment for courses
• Clothing for interviews or new work clothes
• Childcare fees*
• Travel to work fees*
• Course fees
• Or anything to be considered at application
*Please note that when applying for childcare or travel, the grants will be for an agreed period of time. Only one grant per household will be awarded for IT equipment, as long as you meet certain criteria.

Once we receive your application, it will be considered by our education, training and back to work grant panel, who meet on a monthly basis. The panel consists of irwell valley homes senior management team.
Sometimes, we may ask for further information to support your application:
• Proof of enrolment on a course or a letter confirming you are guaranteed a place
• Details of the equipment you need for your course including costs
• Details of the new job
Throughout the application process we will check your rent account to make sure you are up to date with payments. If you fall behind on your payments at any point in the application process, including after an offer has been made; the application will not be progressed any further.
The grants will be paid direct to the provider for fees or equipment. For example if a uniform is required, we will pay the supplier for your uniform on your behalf. We are unable to make any cash payments.
If you are successful in being awarded a grant, we will contact you to see how you are getting on and find out how the grant has made a difference to you and your family.
