Education and back to work training grants

we can help you into education, training or work

We want to create the conditions in which people can enjoy life and realise their potential. We know that its not always easy for everyone to access training, education or work, this is where we can help.

Every year we help to remove barriers that may prevent customers from realising their potential with our education, training and back to work grants. These grants are very flexible and can be used to pay for:

  • Training or college courses
  • Books or equipment needed for your studies
  • Uniform you need for work
  • Tools or equipment you need for work
  • Suitable clothes for an interview
  • Child care whilst you study or work
  • Transport to work or college

how to apply

Our customers, and their children, are able to apply for a grant to help them to achieve your ambitions. If your rent account is up to date, you can apply.

It’s really easy to apply, if you think that you or a member of your family could benefit from a grant, complete the form at the bottom of this page or call 0300 561 1111.

processing your application

Applications are considered by our senior management team on a monthly basis. Sometimes, we may ask for further information to support your application:
•    Proof of enrolment on a course or a letter confirming you are guaranteed a place
•    Details of the equipment you need for your course including costs
•    Details of the new job

Throughout the application process we will check your rent account to make sure you are up to date with payments. If you fall behind on your payments at any point in the application process, including after an offer has been made; the application will not be progressed any further.

The grants will be paid direct to the provider for fees or equipment. For example if a uniform is required, we will pay the supplier for your uniform on your behalf. We are unable to make any cash payments.

Following up

If you are successful in being awarded a grant, we will contact you to see how you are getting on and find out how the grant has made a difference to you and your family.

Please note that when applying for childcare or travel, the grants will be for an agreed period of time. Only one grant per household will be awarded for IT equipment, as long as you meet certain criteria.
